While most of our campaigns focus on our own NE Beds constituency, there are cross-boundary issues which are of deep concern to residents of more than one Parliamentary area. Anything involving Bedford Hospital is obviously one of these, creating anxiety especially for those people living in the north of our area who largely rely on Bedford's GP surgeries, clinics and hospital services.

Speakers at this public meeting, attended by some 70 local residents as well as Bedford & Kempston MP Mohammed Yasin and N E Beds Labour Party Chair Julian Vaughan were:

• Steve Carne from '999 Call for the NHS', a national campaign group

• Rosie Newbigging, local organiser of 'Hands Off Our NHS' (Bedford, Luton and Milton Keynes)

• Labour Councillor Jade Uko

• Jo Owen.
