YOUR CLP

WE ARE NORTH EAST BEDS CONSTITUENCY LABOUR PARTY

All members and supporters are welcome to our monthly meetings. These usually feature speakers, together with some lively political discussion; the essential business of running the constituency is kept to a minimum.

Meetings are held either on the third Monday or the third Tuesday of each month, alternately. This is to make sure that you are able to get to at least one every so often, even if you have other regular commitments.

Venue: The Labour Hall, Crab Lane, Biggleswade SG18 0LN

Time: 7.00 – 9.00pm

For 2018 - 2019 meeting dates, please see our events calendar

YOUR OFFICERS

Each CLP has a set of executive officers: Chair; Vice-Chair Campaigns; Vice-Chair Membership; Secretary; Treasurer; Women’s Officer. These all form the Executive Committee (EC) and, as the Labour Party operates a strict policy of gender balance, at least 50% of these officers must be women. Other important roles are Campaigns Officer, Youth Officer, Social Secretary, Political Education Officer and Trade Union Liaison.

JULIAN VAUGHAN
CLP Chair
Re-elected July 2019

My family and I have been happy to live in this constituency since 2006, and my young daughter attends our local school in Langford. My work as a train driver on London Underground takes me, along with thousands of my fellow commuters, into London every day. As an ASLEF union representative, I look after the interests of some 2,500 members across the London Underground network.

JENNI JACKSON
CLP Vice-Chair – Campaigns
Re-elected July 2019

I joined the Party in 1990 and have been a keen activist at both branch and CLP level ever since. I have lived in Clapham since 1980, being elected for the ward in 1995 – by just two votes – to the former Bedford Borough Council. I lost the seat on a dead heat vote in 1999 and have never managed to regain it since.

I am a graphic designer, web designer, writer and editor, with four grown-up sons and a clutch of grandchildren.

LINDA INGRAM
CLP Vice-Chair – Membership

Biog to come

ANDY HANCOCK
CLP Secretary
Re-elected July 2019

Always a Labour supporter and voter, I only joined after the 2015 election, feeling the need to do something. I soon became Vice Chair, then Vice Chair Membership, then Secretary in 2017.

I have lived in the constituency for 10 years, now live in Sandy and am Vice Chair of the Sandy/Potton branch.

I am also a member of Unite union.

CONNELL OWEN
CLP Treasurer
Re-elected July 2019

Having relocated to Bedfordshire from Yorkshire in 2005, I have since worked and raised a family locally. I am currently a Management Accountant for a large national, and part owner of a small local business. I am a Unite member, and proud socialist. Having joined the party in 2015, I started actively engaging with the local Labour Party in 2016, becoming Treasurer shortly thereafter.

SARAH DOYLE
CLP Women's Officer
Re-elected July 2019

I joined the Labour Party in 1983 and have been a local activist ever since. Having moved to Sandy from London, where I was a local councillor in Enfield, I have retired from teaching and now find myself with enough time on my hands to give this role the commitment it deserves. I am a member of the NEU union and am highly motivated by inclusion and equality issues.
