YOUR CLP
WE ARE NORTH EAST BEDS CONSTITUENCY LABOUR PARTY
All members and supporters are welcome to our monthly meetings. These usually feature speakers, together with some lively political discussion; the essential business of running the constituency is kept to a minimum.

Venue: The Labour Hall, Crab Lane, Biggleswade SG18 0LN
Time: 7.00 – 9.00pm
YOUR OFFICERS
Each CLP has a set of executive officers: Chair; Vice-Chair Campaigns; Vice-Chair Membership; Secretary; Treasurer; Women’s Officer. These all form the Executive Committee (EC) and, as the Labour Party operates a strict policy of gender balance, at least 50% of these officers must be women. Other important roles are Campaigns Officer, Youth Officer, Social Secretary, Political Education Officer and Trade Union Liaison.

CONNELL OWEN
CLP Chair
Elected February 2021
Having relocated to Bedfordshire from Yorkshire in 2005, I have started a family and a small business locally since then.
A Management Accountant for a large national company, I am a Unite member and proud socialist.
I joined Labour in 2015, and started actively engaging with the local Constituency Labour Party some 12 months later, becoming Treasurer shortly after that.
I was elected as Constituency Chair with a particular on-going focus on member engagement and on enabling Labour voices to be represented at all levels of local government.

ANDY HANCOCK
CLP Secretary
Re-elected February 2021
Always a Labour supporter and voter, I only joined after the 2015 election, feeling the need to do something. I soon became Vice Chair, then Vice Chair Membership, then Secretary in 2017.
I have lived in the constituency for 10 years, now live in Sandy and am Vice Chair of the Sandy/Potton branch.
I am also a member of Unite union.

DR FIONA FACTOR
CLP Vice-Chair – Campaigns
Elected February 2021
I have been active in Labour since 2017. Firstly Branch Secretary, I then stood as a council candidate while also acting as agent for Labour’s 2019 NE Beds general election candidate.
My professional life has been spent supporting vulnerable young people and their families. I now teach these skills and undertake research at the University of Bedfordshire.
I am a single parent with twin teenage boys, and have been a parent governor, a volunteer with Biggleswade Good Neighbours, and a trustee of a charity that supports local young victims of criminal or sexual exploitation.

VALERIE GADUZO
CLP Vice-Chair – Membership
Elected February 2021
I have lived in Bedfordshire for 24 years, raising a family here.
I worked as a speech and language therapist in the NHS until an accident changed the course of my life significantly. During that time, I was a Unite workplace representative. I also served as a school governor for six years, partly as vice chair.
Always a Labour supporter, I joined the Labour Party as an individual member three years ago.
I look forward to welcoming new members as warmly as I was welcomed, encouraging new members to quickly feel part of the CLP.

CONNY SMITH
CLP Women's Officer
Elected February 2021
A single mother of three grown boys, I settled in Bedfordshire as an adult. I have worked as an accountant in education, for MK council, for a bus company and for the Police Service. I then became a community carer, and am now a paid carer for my mother who has Alzheimer’s. I am also a member of Carers UK which champions our 6.4m unrecognised and unpaid carers. A C&G qualified teacher of adults, I taught mosaic evening and weekend classes when my children were young.
Always a socialist, I joined Labour about four years ago, becoming active about three years ago. In 2019, I stood for election in a Bedford ward and was on NE Bedfordshire Campaign Committee, helping support our candidate, Julian Vaughan, in the General Election.
